The Department envisions a need for broadly-educated Civil Engineers with strong foundations in a wide variety of sub-disciplines, and excellent development of professional skills. In order to provide the best education possible, we wish to develop more emphasis on hands-on learning with field-based experiences at the Department's Kennedy Field Station and elsewhere, and on lab-based experiences with large-scale testing in all disciplines. We presently enjoy strong relations with industrial partners and we see greater industrial involvement as means by which to enhance our experiential learning opportunities.

The Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) program is designed for software developers to demonstrate their ability to construct
solutions using both in-person and cloud technologies. This certification serves as the global standard for developers, and professionals
looking to earn this certification should have experience using different Microsoft tools and languages to analyze and create enterprise solutions.
Software developers, including application developers, work in a range of industries. As technology advances, the prevalence of applications, especially mobile applications, has become a requirement of success for businesses in all fields. The majority of such application developers work full-time in an office setting, though some may be able to telecommute. Much of their work may be completed independently, but collaboration is required on almost all projects.
Xamarin is a standard for enterprise mobile development. No other platform enables businesses to reach 2.6 billion iOS, Android, Mac and Windows devices with 100 percent fully native apps from a single, shared code base.
